Tensile Structures

We manufacture, supply and install world-class Tensile Structures, which are light in weight because their structural stability derived from their pre-stressed shape rather than mass of the material used. Our range of Tensile Structures is much lighter than conventional building structure and yet it offers high stability. These Stencil Structures are characterized by having a rather small mass relative to the applied load, which include Tensile Structures, Frame Supported Structures, Air Supported Structures, Air Inflated Structures, Cable Network Structures, etc. From an engineering point of view, these Fabric Structures are thin membranes of constant thickness that’s why virtue of their surface’s shape and inherent large deflection behavior are able to support the imposed loads required by building codes. These are modestly pre-stressed to enhance their stiffness. Our Fabric Structure also offers a wide span enclosures of great spatial variety with minimal supporting element of “Hard “structures like steel wood etc , and provide a very good overall level of defused natural daylight.
For Tensile Structures, the design process differs greatly from those for traditional building structures. For example, there are two essential features differ from conventional structures, i.e. membrane structures need form-finding and cutting pattern generation. The design of a membrane structure is a complex procedure consisting of many parts which results in an iterative process. This process may include: conceptual design, physical modeling, computer modeling, form-finding, analysis, and cutting pattern generation. The structural shapes need to be determined through a tedious optimization process depend on the choice of boundary conditions.
Now-a-days a number of architects are finding Tensile Structure made by us is more appealing as application of tensile membrane structure provides them an opportunity to design stunningly beautiful structures that are restricted when using the conventional material like metal sheet and concrete etc. The material used in Architectural Membranes generally consist of a woven fabrics coated with a polymeric resin. The strength of coated fabrics is mainly determined by the strengths of the constitutive yarns. Weft-inserted fabrics, Laminated Fabrics, and foils are variants of the general concept. The two most commonly used materials are:

  • PVC coasted polyester fabrics (PVC+ POLYVINYLCLORIDE)

  • PTFE coated Fabrics (PTFE polytetrafluorethylene) and of these PVC coated polyester is more widely used than PTFE coated glass due in effect to compromises made in the ratio between cost, performance and durability. Top coat of fabrics are lacquered in order to ensure good cleanable, good slip, processing, and they offer an efficient barrier for plasticizer migration and weather influence. Most liquid lacquer systems for PVC coated fabrics are made out of acrylic, PVDF/ acrylic mixture and PVDF (polyvinilidene fluoride). In India, we normally use imported fabrics made by companies from France, Korea & Germany.
